It Was A Peaceful Weekend

Image
Sheila and I had a very peaceful weekend... and it was a much needed peaceful weekend! I'm trying to recover from our Christmas festivities and rest for our big upcoming train show weekend so this peaceful weekend was welcomed. The only two things I accomplished over the weekend was to help Sheila dig out the cars and shovel snow from our driveway yesterday afternoon and I assembled two new stools for our kitchen table. (Next on my list of fairly big projects is to make a new larger table to accommodate six of us for dinner.) I haven't posted many photos lately so here are a few very recent photos of the kids... Dinner and Gelato Cones

This past Sunday, as usual, the kids visited and we had a nice afternoon and evening together. Dinner was a tasty herb encrusted pork roast and, to be honest, I really didn't think it would go over all that well with the kids. I was completely wrong though! The kids each had three platefuls of pork, roasted potatoes and gravy. Less popular were the carrots but they did have a serving each. Their lack of interest in the carrots also surprised me because these carrots were in a butter and brown sugar glaze which I thought they would really like. Truth be known, I won't eat carrots without a glaze like this! Typically after dinner, we usher the kids quickly into the bathroom for showers. This time we tried something a little different before showertime. We had some black cherry gelato in the freezer so we put a scoop or two in a couple of ice cream cones for the kids. That, too, went over well and excited the kids! Their laps were covered in melted gelato by the time

Window Light

The grandkids were over again this past Sunday. We all watched the University of Florida win the men's basketball SEC Conference title while Nan and Pop (Sheila's parents) visited. Then we tried to distract their interest in viewing the model railroading video we always watch by instead watching Disney's movie "Planes". I even let them play with two of my model airplanes. They tolerated the "Planes" movie but still wanted the model railroading video. So... we watched the model railroading video at some point later in the day. They certainly get very animated when it comes to this video! I suppose that once the weather is warmer and we can spend time outdoors, the model railroading video will fade from their memories. As much as I love model railroading, I really am tired of seeing and hearing this one video over and over!  I've been trying to make sure I get at least one photo of each of them each week or a video.  I figure if I aim for a photo

Sunday Dinner at Our House

Grammy and Kenzie... Once or twice each month, we invite a few family and friends over for dinner on a Sunday.  This past Sunday was one of those Sundays. Frank and Christine had just returned home from their wedding and honeymoon in Hawaii so it was nice to see them.  We skimmed through the first batch of photos from their trip...   around a thousand...  and we look forward to seeing the rest of the photos when they have them all uploaded and ready for viewing.   We even viewed a video of their Hawaiian beach wedding ceremony!   It was really nice to see the newlyweds and hear about their long tropical pacific trip.  As always, we enjoyed their company this past Sunday. Sheila's parents, Liza and the grandchildren were here as well.  Everyone seemed to enjoy the day together as well as the dinner. Story time... For dinner, I roasted a large top round roast beef...  herb encrusted...  with fresh garlic cloves embedded in the roast.  We also had mashed potatoes, a
