Kenzie's Korner Bake Shoppe

Image
Note:  Kenzie will not receive this Christmas gift for another week  (New Years Day)  so, if you should happen to be reading this blog before then, please say absolutely nothing to Kenzie about this gift.  We would like this to be a surprise for her! I 've been busy the past few weeks designing and building a new dollhouse addition for Kenzie.  A few years ago, I designed and built a dollhouse townhouse for her and, over the years, we've added to the interior furniture and the number of dolls for the townhouse.  We've even added window boxes, shrubbery and a tree in subsequent Christmases.   This year, Kenzie asked for some food for the dollhouse.  She wanted only food, presumably to put on her kitchen table and countertops.  She circled a number of items in one of my dollhouse catalogs so I purchased these items for her townhouse.  I still felt like her gift should be more than just a bit of food for her dollhouse, so... Since Kenzie enjoys cooking and baking, I decided to

Kenzie, Gee and a Dollhouse

Image
We were happy to have Kenzie visit with us again over the weekend.  This gave her a chance to play with her dollhouse with Gee. The dollhouse that I had built for Kenzie a few years ago has been buried in one of the bedrooms that Adam resided in when he last visited a few months ago. As a result, this dollhouse hasn't gotten much use in the past six months or so because it was sitting behind a bunch of new kitchen supplies for our new kitchen in this bedroom.   Our kitchen renovation was put on hold the moment Sheila was diagnosed with cancer again almost a year and a half ago so all the supplies we had already bought for this project were piled up against a wall in the spare bedroom.  That project is now on indefinite hold due to the costs of cancer treatments and a few other reasons and Kenzie's townhouse dollhouse was residing somewhere behind all of these kitchen supplies...  until Sunday. Gee dug out the dollhouse and brought it out to the living room.  While Gee

Some Little Details

About a week ago, little Miss Mackenzie called us on the telephone. She does this fairly often and her calls are usually to just say hello or tell us about something she had just accomplished. A week ago, however, was a little different. She asked Gee if Papa was there... Gee told her "yes"... Kenzie then asked, "How is my dollhouse?" Gee was a little confused and didn't know where this line of questioning was headed but cautiously replied, "Your dollhouse is fine, why?" Kenzie then asked about the wreath and whether it was hanging on the front door of her dollhouse yet. In the end, she told Gee, "Tell Papa I want the wreath on the door the next time I come over!"  It was a bit funny but, truth be told, I don't let anyone tell me or order me to do something. If someone asks me to do something for them, I will do it. If someone thanks me for doing that favor, I will jump at any request in the future but nobody gets to order me

An Almost-Forgotten Christmas Gift

Image
Just before bedtime last night, I was looking at Kenzie's dollhouse townhouse... at first, the new window box on one of the third floor windows had my attention and I was thinking, "That looks really nice... it will look really nice when I get the remaining four window boxes mounted after Christmas." Then my attention moved downward to the first floor and patio french doors I fixed yesterday (Kenzie broke off part of the mullion grill on Christmas morning last year and I just got around to fixing it yesterday along with a few other parts that broke over the past year). I was thinking that the repair wasn't even noticeable. That was looking nice too! Then I noticed the empty patio right outside those french doors and was thinking, "I really need to do something about some furniture or something for that patio"... "Hey wait... didn't I order a tree to put on that patio?" Yes, I already ordered a tree and had hidden it in a different place t

Pre-Christmas Playing

Kenzie's big townhouse dollhouse was perched on our living room coffee table last night so she jumped right into playing with her dollhouse family. It is always fun watching her expressions as she plays... especially through a dollhouse window... Gee played with Kenzie and her dollhouse too!  Interesting place to move the little girl's bedroom... I'm thinking Kenzie wants a room with a view! As Kenzie and Gee played with the dollhouse, Lukey took everyone's order for dinner and then made our pizza's as requested! Kenzie was cleaning floors in her dollhouse in preparation of the Christmas holiday fast approaching... And the gifts spread out under and around the tree seem to continue to grow a little bit each day... Christmas is getting close!
