An Alter Ego for Kenzie

During our more formal dinner out at a German Festhaus (I will write more about this dinner and Festhaus later), the 33 month old Kenzie asked to be taken to the potty. This polite and responsible request alone deserves some positive reinforcement but this is not the subject of this blog entry. The subject of this blog entry is about a little girl's imagination while in a land far from home and while in a rather noisy and unfamiliar cultural restaurant with her family...
Liza quickly ushered Kenzie to the ladies room. While in the ladies room, a woman was taken with Miss Mackenzie's presence, behavior and personality and asked Kenzie for her name. Kenzie quickly, confidently and matter-of-factly responded, with a sly smile, "I'm Elsa". For those unfamiliar with who Elsa is... Elsa is the name of her favorite character in her current favorite movie, Frozen.
When her mom quickly questioned Kenzie about her new identity, little Kenzie just giggled and repeated, "I'm Elsa!"
I still laugh whenever I replay this interaction in my head! I also can't help but be reminded of the importance of culture as well as imagination in our lives... young and old alike.
By the way, Lukey now goes by the name "Bob"...
EDIT (two and a half weeks later): Kenzie has changed half of the name of her new alter ego... not the entire name of her alter ego... just half... no longer does she call herself Elsa... now she goes by the name of Elmo! Lukey still goes by the name "Bob" and thinks it is hilariously funny... I can't wait until he meets a real Bob! Check out the Elmo video below... maybe she does more closely resemble Elmo at this point in time after all...
