New Flooring for Entire Living Area

Image
About a year and a half ago, I refinished our pine wood flooring in the kitchen. I had painted it a gloss white. At the same time, I replaced the carpet in the living room and adjoining front room with a Berber carpet. We just wanted to clean up the look with a cheap temporary fix until we were ready to replace all the flooring through the kitchen, living room and our front room (which is currently our temporary bedroom but will be a study/piano room when we finally renovate our master bedroom suite). Well... we're about ready to replace all this flooring... finally! We decided upon an antique birch wood flooring.  I bought a box of this flooring to bring home and test it out in our living room. Even though it is just lying on top of the carpet in these photos, it really looks great and is exactly what we were hoping to find! I ordered 23 cases of this flooring and it should be delivered in the next couple of weeks. We're collecting a lot of building supplies at this poi

Screen Door Art Project

We've needed two new screen doors for a few years now. This was just one of those projects that kept getting pushed back due to other problems arising and taking precedence. In early June, I decided it was time to pick up a couple of wood screen doors... but, I couldn't find any in stock! Well... since the doors take a beating, they would need a few coats of paint. Now we needed to decide on a paint color. (This project, like all of my 'little' projects, kept getting bigger and bigger.) We have plans to repaint the house so I decided this was the time to address that too. We

Embracing Change

We are in the midst of making a lot of changes.  We've always embraced change and only a complete fool would waste precious energy on fighting change. Embracing change is good for learning, for growing, for evolving, for reaching one's potential and beyond.  Embracing change does not mean you should live your life like a leaf being tossed about in a raging river. Embracing change doesn't mean we should just blindly go with the flow. Embracing change is about prioritizing, decision-making, problem-solving and effectively adapting based upon the changing environment around us so we can effectively grow. Fighting change is a complete and utter waste of time and energy. As with anyone struggling with a chronic incurable illness, energy is of very short supply. Even when I was perfectly healthy and at my strongest, I refused to waste time and energy. I made decisions, I actively participated in life and I grew.  I never wasted time and energy fighting change. Fighting chan
