Home from Portsmouth

Image
W e arrived back home from our weekend in Portsmouth yesterday afternoon.  The three hour drive was uneventful but Sheila has been sick since shortly before arriving home.   At first we thought she might have a stomach virus but now we aren't sure if it's a stomach virus or COVID or even a result of some bad food.  She is feeling rather poorly and hasn't eaten since breakfast in Portsmouth yesterday morning.  We both tested for COVID this morning and we tested negative but that doesn't mean much since these home tests are known to be highly inaccurate indicating negative results when the person is really infected with the virus.   We'll continue testing and we'll see what happens.  Hopefully, she'll feel like eating something by dinnertime tonight.  (...and, hopefully, be able to hold it down.) On our last night in Portsmouth, we went to an ice cream shop two doors down from our apartment right after dinner at a nice restaurant on Bow Street....

A Busy Day

Image
Ceiling planks laid out on the floor for staining and polyurethaning... I needed to do this in two batches. Our day was a busy one today! I spent the morning staining the second batch of planks for a new ceiling in our new bedroom. Then, after my usual (and very necessary) 2-4 hour after-lunch nap, I managed to put a coat of polyurethane on all the planks just as the kids were arriving from day-care with Gee.  We had a nice dinner... watched "The Santa Claus" (the kids were glued to this movie from the very beginning)... the kids had some ice cream cones... then the kids helped Gee make some dark chocolate chip cookies... and I managed to get a second coat of polyurethane on all the ceiling planks as Lukey watched from the doorway.  All in all, it was a busy day and a very productive one at that! Tomorrow, I hope to stain and polyurethane trim and/or our nightstands.  Little by little... things are coming along... Shot using one of my manu...

Dessert, part II

Image
Here is part two about last night's dessert with a series of photos of Lukey...   "Hmmm... not bad..." "Ooooo... that's cold on the teeth..." "Ut - ohh..." "Brain-freeze!" "Hey Gee... ...what... did you... put... in this dessert... anyway?"  Before anyone thinks we may have spiked the dessert, we didn't... I simply caught Lukey in mid-blink...  It does look like he is a bit loopy though! As always, it was a fun night with the grandchildren!
