Kenzie's Korner Bake Shoppe

Note:  Kenzie will not receive this Christmas gift for another week  (New Years Day)  so, if you should happen to be reading this blog before then, please say absolutely nothing to Kenzie about this gift.  We would like this to be a surprise for her! I 've been busy the past few weeks designing and building a new dollhouse addition for Kenzie.  A few years ago, I designed and built a dollhouse townhouse for her and, over the years, we've added to the interior furniture and the number of dolls for the townhouse.  We've even added window boxes, shrubbery and a tree in subsequent Christmases.   This year, Kenzie asked for some food for the dollhouse.  She wanted only food, presumably to put on her kitchen table and countertops.  She circled a number of items in one of my dollhouse catalogs so I purchased these items for her townhouse.  I still felt like her gift should be more than just a bit of food for her dollhouse, so... A Productive Few Hours of Artistic Fun!

I've had a few hours of productivity spread out over the past few days  (this stuff does take its toll on my spine so I only do things like this in short spurts)  and it reminded me of how much I truly enjoy accomplishing artistic and creative things like this project. It has been fun! I really should do this more often.  It is time for lunch... past time, actually... so that is all I will accomplish on this project until tonight perhaps. Next up is some lunch, a shower and a long nap! When I head back to this project tonight or over the weekend, it will be time to add some smaller details and some additional vegetation. It's looking good at this point though and I'm enjoying building it!  It makes me wonder why I don't do stuff like this more often... Oh yeah... we don't have the room just yet!  It really has been an outstanding day!

Bought Myself a Mother's Day Gift

Although I have no children of my own... and, I am a guy... I bought myself a Mother's Day gift! (Admittedly, I have been called a 'mother' on occasion but that really has nothing to do with Mother's Day... I'll leave those stories for storytelling times with friends in a pub...) Yesterday, Amazon sent me an email letting me know of their Mother's Day sale on their Kindle Fire tablets. I have been closely following the price of the Fire HDX 8.9" since it was released last autumn so I always welcome news of a good sale. Not only did Amazon offer $40 off the price, but they also offered an interest-free payment plan. I couldn't resist the temptation of this pricing. I've been using the original Kindle Fire tablet for a little over a year now.  I had bought Sheila the new Kindle Fire HD 7" for Christmas a year ago and I subsequently inherited her old Kindle Fire 7".  This original Kindle Fire had served its purpose but is a bit sluggish b
