Sue's Funeral

Image
S ometime in the near future, I plan to write a blog entry more specifically about Sue, Sheila's mom, than I am writing here in this blog entry but, in the meantime, here are some photos of everyone who was with us after Sue's funeral at Will and Sue's home.  Actually, this blog entry is not about any stories of Sue at all but really about the family celebrating her life after the funeral was behind us. These photos inserted here in the blog are small and highly compressed so they are not suitable for printing or even for sharing online.  Additionally, these photos here in this blog also have a shadow border on them which makes them even less suitable for sharing or printing.  That shadow border is designed to fit my blog and, honestly, looks quite goofy when used anywhere else so, if anyone wants a full size copy of any of these photos, just let Sheila know and we'll email you a more suitable copy.   Sheila, Will and I went to the funeral home one morning before the f

ICU Reflection

Image
Sue's ICU room reflected in the windows overlooking Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains. It has been a couple of days of serious reflection and I even captured a photo of this in a literal sense. We just can't seem to break away from the hospital! We certainly are on a consistent roll between me, Sheila and now Sheila's mom, Sue. The past couple of days have been spent at the hospital with Sue and we expect to do the same through the long weekend ahead.  Sue certainly has had a rough couple of days and she really had all of us worried yesterday! (And there are a lot of "us" in Sue's life!) The next few weeks promise to be quite rough for her as she continues to slowly heal. On the positive side, Sue is now stable and, hopefully, steadily healing.  Sue slipped on the ice right outside their garage yesterday morning... slammed to the ground... left with visible bruising, a bloodied head and a relatively small bleed on the brain. She doesn

Golf, Some Rain, and Sunday Dinner

Image
We had a really nice weekend and had an especially nice Sunday dinner with the grandchildren, Liza, and Sheila's parents, Will and Sue! Lukey arrived at the house with a golf club in hand which immediately reminded me of creating golf courses when I was a kid myself. We kept the course design simple on this day, however.  First, we dug one single hole, inserted a cup, and then we figured out where to place five different tee off areas... one straight-on... one off to the side... one which we called "down in the hole" which placed the tee off area lower than the green... one which was off to the side of "down in the hole" requiring chipping around tall brush and foliage... and one which required chipping over our firepit.  We took a little break for lunch... cheese quesadillas, tomato soup, apple sauce and berry jello for the kids... some leftover fried okra for me... and a cherry tomato medley salad for Gee... then back outside to play more go
