Recovery Time After A Busy Saturday

The past few days, Sunday through Tuesday, have been spent recovering from a busy day over the weekend.  Whenever I use a lot of energy, my health really suffers and it can take days or weeks to recover. This past Saturday was a very busy day for me and I used a lot of energy which was compounded by missing my much-needed daily nap. Even on a good day, I need to lay down for a few hours every afternoon. That never happened on Saturday though. So... what happens if I wear myself down? The best case scenario would be that I am simply fatigued at an overwhelming level for a few days. This fatigue makes just showering or cooking for myself impossible at times. Sometimes the fatigue gets so bad that walking to the other side of the house is a daunting task. Even reading can require more energy than I have to use! Worst case scenario would be that in addition to the overwhelming fatigue, my overall health suffers significantly resulting in breathing difficulties, dizziness, cognitive d

The kids visited us a couple of weeks ago and, as always, we had a nice time. We're overdue for a visit with them again but the house has been a dangerous construction zone the past couple of weeks. Grammy read them a book and then they started watching "Nemo" ... It didn't take long before they were both snoozing and drooling on the couch. Once they fell asleep, I grabbed my camera to get a few shots of the sun falling on their faces during their naps...

Consequences of Missing Naps

Ever since this systemic mastocytosis illness has taken ahold of my body (read death grip), I have struggled with overwhelming fatigue. Overwhelming fatigue... First, I think I need to explain what qualifies as overwhelming fatigue.  This is fatigue which is so severe that it affects my ability to think clearly and make simple decisions...  It is a fatigue so severe that it is difficult to mindlessly hold something lightweight such as a book or magazine or my Kindle Fire tablet long enough to even begin the task of reading...  It is a fatigue which makes reading comprehension frustratingly impossible...  It is a fatigue so severe that my legs feel like mushy goo making walking short distances difficult to impossible...  It is fatigue so severe that I could fall asleep within mere seconds at any moment, even while standing, and then sleep for a solid 4-12 hours...  It is a fatigue which is so severe that it makes my normal triggers (for systemic mastocytosis episodes) beco
