A Furniture Delivery

Image
Our latest furniture order arrived yesterday!  The delivery guys were in and out of our house within twenty minutes and even carted away all of our old furniture. And, they arrived right at our scheduled time! The couch is firm but comfortable and it is a bit smaller than our previous couch. We've been searching for a smaller couch for years so this was a lucky find.  The bed felt great last night! Also, it is very nice to be able to easily adjust the position of the bed with the remote.  I think we're going to enjoy this furniture!

Impulse Buys While Exhausted

Image
Our primary impulse buy yesterday... As many of you already know, Sheila and I are worn out, exhausted and quite often we find ourselves walking around in a bit of a daze. I think we're kind of numb.  We've spent far too much time at hospitals since last summer and we are simply worn down and exhausted. No offense to our doctors and our respective medical teams, but we are also sick of doctors and hospitals at this point.  In addition to all these medical appointment and our illnesses, we are also not sleeping too well which is adding to our exhaustion. My extensive spinal injuries, bone pain and joint pain are keeping me up at night not to mention that the past seven months have been a bit stressful and that is contributing to sleep issues as well. Sheila is into a whole slew of new side effects due to her new cancer treatment which includes pain, hot flashes and drenching night-sweats while attempting to get some much needed rest. Difficulty sleeping has been compoun

Heading Back Home After Surgery

Image
Before a patient can be discharged from Post-Op Recovery, the patient must be able to effectively void their bladder on their own. Of course, they should also be able to get themselves to the bathroom without falling over to the floor and their vitals should be in a safe, healthy range. If everything checks out okay, then the patient can be discharged and sent home to continue recovery. One of the problems Sheila has had consistently in her previous two surgeries was bladder paralysis due to general anesthesia. Her team of doctors worked together to come up with a solution so Sheila would not again experience this excruciating problem again this time around. Both Sheila and I are very happy to report that her team of doctors succeeded in solving this problem this time around! When Sheila was able to effectively void her bladder on her own by mid-afternoon, we began our journey of checking out of Recovery and the hospital. Here, Whitney is wheeling Sheila out of Post-Op Recovery...

Some Dollhouse Details

Image
As it rains, sleets and snows outside, we have remained indoors all day. Some of the details for the dollhouse have arrived so I spent some time working on these details. I have two staircases to install but, first, I need to paint each of the staircases as well as all the balusters and railings. Today, while watching a couple of movies, I managed to put a coat of paint on all of this stuff. While I was painting all these tiny pieces, I was trying to figure out the best way to assemble all of this (and shaking my head, wondering why I got myself into all of this...)... the only thing I figured out is that this will be a frustratingly tedious task! I guess if I just take it one piece at a time, it will eventually get done. EDIT:  Sheila and I were just talking about these staircases. There is about a 95% chance that either Kenzie or Lukey will break the railing and balusters within a matter of hours so... I am now thinking that I'll eliminate the railings on the sides of
