Scattered Thoughts . . .

L ast week, we traveled out to Cabot to see their Spring Concert.  Not only was both Kenzie and Lukey in this concert again but this time we had Ace up on stage too! At some point, Ace noticed me shooting photos of him.  I know this because it was one of the first things he excitedly talked about after he left the stage.  Since he is looking directly at me in this next photo, it is possible that this is the moment he noticed me shooting photos...  or maybe it was during that first photo at the top of the page... Sophie was wondering where Papa was so Gee pointed out my location while I was shooting photos.  I happened to catch them both looking at me so I captured a photo... Lukey played the drums, keyboards and some guitar this time around.  I didn't capture any photos of him playing guitar because he was directly behind the lead singers from my point of view in the dark back corner of the room. L ukey and Kenzie are both a part of the band at school and last night was their spring concert so we headed out to Cabot last night for a bit of middle school culture.   This was Kenzie's first time singing lead vocals in front of a crowd and she did well considering it was her first time.   Lukey already had another previous concert under his belt (their winter concert) before Kenzie joined the band so he moved around from instrument to instrument on stage during the performances.  I think he prefers drums but he spent time at the keyboard in addition to rocking a tambourine and singing lead vocals.   It was a fun night for all of us!  There is a short video at the bottom of this blog entry with a few short clips of the concert. T he other night, Sheila and I attended a Christmas concert at Ellie's school and watched her perform at her first concert.  Last night, we headed out again for a Christmas concert at Lukey and Kenzie's school.  This time Lukey was performing.  This school has a nice "performing arts" building albeit a bit small.  It is an exceptionally small school so perhaps this room is large enough for expected crowd size but it sure seemed quite small to me especially considering the size of the sound gear (big sound for big spaces).  The first thing I noticed when we stepped into this building is all the Yamaha sound gear, a few pianos and nice lighting.  I found this to be quite impressive since I prefer Yamaha sound gear myself and the photographer in me is always happy to see good, effective and dramatic lighting!
