Home from Portsmouth

We arrived back home from our weekend in Portsmouth yesterday afternoon.  The three hour drive was uneventful but Sheila has been sick since shortly before arriving home.

At first we thought she might have a stomach virus but now we aren't sure if it's a stomach virus or COVID or even a result of some bad food.  She is feeling rather poorly and hasn't eaten since breakfast in Portsmouth yesterday morning.  We both tested for COVID this morning and we tested negative but that doesn't mean much since these home tests are known to be highly inaccurate indicating negative results when the person is really infected with the virus.  We'll continue testing and we'll see what happens.  Hopefully, she'll feel like eating something by dinnertime tonight.  (...and, hopefully, be able to hold it down.)

On our last night in Portsmouth, we went to an ice cream shop two doors down from our apartment right after dinner at a nice restaurant on Bow Street.  The restaurant was right around the corner from our apartment.  Will, Whitney, Wayne and Ellie had joined us for dinner and then Jasmine, Corey and their friend Derek (I think that was his name) joined us for ice cream at Annabelle's.

There are many interesting streets in Portsmouth and Ceres Street is one of these interesting streets. Even when we visited Portsmouth about ten years ago, this street caught our eye.  It is right on the waterfront and the ground floor is filled with shops and art galleries.  The door to our apartment is on this street and is squeezed in between a small shop and a high end restaurant.  Annabelle's Ice Cream is one door down from our apartment.  (I'll write more about where we stayed in another blog...  we would definitely stay here again!)

Here are a few shots of Ceres Street at night...  the private entrance to our apartment is on the other side of the "Societe" sign...

Ellie clearly was excited to be getting ice cream...

While we were waiting on line to get our ice cream, I noticed there was a bulletin board on one of the walls.  On the bulletin board was a flyer from someone who is selling Kenzie's skin!  (For those who don't know, Kenzie is the name of our eldest granddaughter.)  It appears that they are also selling Kenzie's brows and eyelashes!  What the...???

Kenzie, did you know someone is selling your skin, brows and lashes?

Everyone appeared to have enjoyed the ice cream.  I try to avoid dairy whenever we are on the road (I have to closely watch everything I eat to avoid triggering my primary illness) so I didn't have any ice cream but I was very tempted!

Annabelle's is a nice ice cream shop with plenty of flavors and options and everyone, especially Ellie, seemed to enjoy it.
