Nighttime at Bonfire

Image
I had previously written about Kenzie taking over photographer duties for me at a family bonfire event.  Later in the evening, I grabbed my camera and picked up where Kenzie left off. As the sun went down, it got colder and darker.  Kenzie was now having difficulty capturing people without motion blurring so badly that you can't identify the people in the shots so it was my turn to be the photographer.  She did an awesome job during the daylight hours though and that gave me a nice break!   As expected, Kenzie fluidly switched gears and focused more on S'mores and sparklers. We were in the yard out beyond the fairly new solar panels.  It was a good day for solar energy! We roasted hot dogs over the fire for dinner.  I brought along some bacon, shredded lettuce, chopped tomato and homemade maple honey mustard for some BLT Hot Dogs for anyone who wanted to try one.  Mmmm...  I could go for one now! It was definitely getting colder out at this poin

Kenzie Picked Up The Slack

A selfie... Kenzie invited us to a bonfire at Nan and Pop's house over the weekend.  For a pleasant change, we had beautiful weather on this particular afternoon and evening!  We haven't seen the sun much and, on the rare occasion when we have, it has only been peaking from behind clouds.  This day was crystal clear with sunny skies.  It was a perfect autumn evening. Sheila and I arrived as Pop was lighting the fire in mid-afternoon.  We arrived bearing some chairs, some drinks, some food, some S'mores, and I had a couple of cameras with me.   Lukey shot a few photos early in the day but Kenzie picked up one of my cameras and seemed to enjoy being the photographer for the day so... I let her! She carried around one of my cameras while I kept the other close at hand.  For the most part, Kenzie was getting a lot of the shots I would have tried to capture so I didn't even need to bother picking up my camera most of the day.  It wasn't until later in the even

Repeated Head Injuries

This evening, I mentioned to Sheila that I had another headache and touched the top of my head where the pain was radiating from...  the moment I touched my head where it hurt, I remembered that I, once again, whacked my head on something earlier in the day.  I hit it in the same place as my original mild TBI.   So, I was wondering about why I keep miscalculating the distance between the top of my head and stationary objects around me...  I think it is because I am still a bit dizzy from that first injury back in June.  Of course, now I am a little more dizzy after hitting my head again and I have another annoying headache too.  Headache is an ache with very mild throbbing...  maybe a 4 on the 10 point pain scale.  This pain is competing with my spinal pain for the most painful thing today.   For what it is worth...  perhaps to only document what happened exactly...  I whacked my head on a shelf in our bedroom.  I don't really know how I got so close to this shelf but, regardle

Annual Trek to The Christmas Loft

Image
This past weekend...  a holiday weekend with an absurd amount of traffic and gridlock due to leaf peeping tourism...  we made our annual trek to The Christmas Loft with Lukey and Kenzie.  We headed northward earlier than most people were out and about so, for the most part, we stayed ahead of the crowds.   The scenery was typical autumn scenery...  like we are in an artificial Willy Wonka world of funky, overly fiery assortments of brightly saturated colors that appear more like infrared photography or false-color photography or someone's nightmare than real life.  To be honest, I prefer the late spring season for more awe-inspiring scenery.  Autumn looks a bit too wildly psychedelic   for me  (should be more appropriately spelled " psycho -delic" if you ask me).  Springtime after everything begins to bloom looks more natural and colorful.  Springtime colors are in distinct shades of light green to dark green with pastel shades of reds, oranges and yellows, complemented
