Christmas Season!

Okay, the lousy holiday of Thanksgiving is now out of the way. The nausea is behind us and we are both feeling significantly better today. It is time to move on to the next holiday.

For some strange reason, the Scrooges of the world (I think most of them come from a dull place called Bluesville) have some ridiculous rule that Christmas can't appear until after Thanksgiving.  Well, gruesome Thanksgiving is behind us and we are now celebrating Christmas!

We spent much of the day decorating for Christmas. The weather has been snowy so we already have four foot banks of snow surrounding the house making it difficult to decorate for Christmas as we usually do so we are a little light on our decorations outdoors this year. Nevertheless, we managed to do some decorating today.

As I type this blog entry, Sheila is decorating the Christmas tree in the living room. I already put together the tree in the stand and basket at the base of the tree. Then I put a few strings of lights on it. Now Sheila is decorating the tree further.

Earlier this afternoon, Sheila and I made a wreath for the front door from boughs from one of our trees...

I built a new garden window over our kitchen sink a couple of months ago so we decided to put a small Christmas tree in the garden window...

For winter, our main entry moves to the side door so we aren't tracking snow into the living room. Of course, we decorate this door as well...

Lately, I've been thinking of the lake house at Rocky Point.  It is only a short distance away but we haven't been there since before Sheila's last cancer appeared a little over a year ago. I always think of and even dream of spending the holidays at a lake house and this year is no exception. Perhaps we'll move to the lake permanently before long and celebrate all holidays there...

Here is a shot looking down our mantle...  I have some trains on the mantle with our mantle-piece this year...

Once the Christmas tree is completely decorated, I'll get a few photos of that too and share them here...

And, now the tree is decorated!

If the weather gets mild again, we may do more decorating outside but I'm not too hopeful at this point. We have snowbanks that are piled far too high already which would make it difficult to decorate the way we usually do every year. Of course, maybe this is a sign that it is time for a change!  We'll see how it goes...
