Kenzie, Gee and a Dollhouse

We were happy to have Kenzie visit with us again over the weekend.  This gave her a chance to play with her dollhouse with Gee.

The dollhouse that I had built for Kenzie a few years ago has been buried in one of the bedrooms that Adam resided in when he last visited a few months ago. As a result, this dollhouse hasn't gotten much use in the past six months or so because it was sitting behind a bunch of new kitchen supplies for our new kitchen in this bedroom.

Our kitchen renovation was put on hold the moment Sheila was diagnosed with cancer again almost a year and a half ago so all the supplies we had already bought for this project were piled up against a wall in the spare bedroom.  That project is now on indefinite hold due to the costs of cancer treatments and a few other reasons and Kenzie's townhouse dollhouse was residing somewhere behind all of these kitchen supplies...  until Sunday.

Gee dug out the dollhouse and brought it out to the living room.  While Gee went searching for a few other dollhouse accessories, Kenzie was re-familiarizing herself with her dollhouse.  She was carefully looking at each room, the furniture, the artwork on the walls, the rugs, the dolls... she kept repeating, "This is amazing!"  It was like Christmas morning all over again!

Gee played the roles of both parents while Kenzie played the roles of twin children. Somehow, we've collected enough dolls for this dollhouse to have a family of nine... two parents and seven children... all living in a two bedroom townhouse!

When I first built this dollhouse, I bought a small family of dolls.  These dolls were stiff and couldn't be posed and Kenzie expressed some dissatisfaction in that.  She couldn't bend them enough to seat them anywhere.  All they can do is stand or lie down.  That's not ideal for a dollhouse that is meant for playing.

The next Christmas, I found a family of dolls that could be posed because they had hinged joints.  It was a long discontinued set but eBay was my friend on that Christmas!  So, Kenzie ended up with a large family of dollhouse dolls...  most with flexible joints but some stiff as a board.

Anyway, it was nice having Kenzie visit us again.  Kenzie and Gee enjoyed themselves while I shot a few photos and a few video clips...
