Next Size Up

Ever since Lukey and Kenzie were infants, we've always made sure we have the correct size life preservers for them.  We've been kayaking with them since they were born so we made sure they had appropriate life preservers to wear.  They also needed them while at the lake house for playing in the water.  So, we started with infant life preservers, then to small toddler life preservers, then to larger toddler life preservers, and then to child life preservers.  Now it was time for them to get new life preservers again in the next size up.

We were at Dick's looking for running shoes the other day for Kenzie and sneakers for Lukey but, while wandering around the store, we came across these O'Brien life preservers on a Buy-One, Get-One-Free sale so we took advantage of the sale and purchased two new adult-sized life preservers for them.  Lukey and Kenzie tried on the much more comfortable O'Brien vests to ensure they fit and then we headed on to the shoe department to look for running shoes and sneakers.

In the end, we left Dick's with new life preservers and Kenzie's new running shoes but no sneakers for Lukey.  They didn't seem to have sneakers for Lukey and the sales people were less than helpful.  It seemed like they were more interested in wearing pajamas and collecting a paycheck without putting in any work so we purchased sneakers (Merrells) at REI instead.  The Merrells were a far better choice for Lukey anyway and the sales staff at REI was far more interested in making the customer happy so we found everything we needed at REI.  We actually wished we hadn't purchased Kenzie's new running shoes at Dick's once we saw what was available at REI and how helpful they were there.

When we got back home, I got a few photos of Lukey and Kenzie in their new life preservers.  I wanted these photos so I could compare to the first time I captured some photos of them trying on their new life preservers at three years old.

Here are the photos from the backyard the other night...

And, here is the photo of them, for comparison, trying on their new life preservers a month before their fourth birthday...

Now we just need to get out on the kayaks again!  Or, maybe some time on the sailboat...
