Very Poor Health Today
Although I happened to finish my antibiotic for my recent sinus infection last night, today was a day of very poor health!
My sinus infection is clearing up but I fell asleep on the couch before I could make lunch today. I slept straight through to dinnertime. So, I slept four to five hours this afternoon which is double the amount of time I normally nap each day. I was exhausted and couldn't keep my eyes open. Plus, falling asleep before lunch is exceptionally odd. Sleeping straight through to dinnertime is even odder. To make matters worse, missing a meal almost always results in anaphylaxis for me. Systemic mastocytosis is brutal and unforgiving of even one mistake.
Considering the amount of cold medications I was taking since before Christmas but had stopped taking days ago, I should be well rested already. I slept a lot while I was recovering from the sinus infection. Theoretically, I should be feeling pretty good today so feeling lousy was definitely striking me as a bit odd.
I took my lunchtime medications and fell asleep on the couch before I could make anything for lunch. I awoke at 5pm... took my dinnertime medications... and tried to think clearly enough to evaluate my health. I definitely was not thinking clearly. In fact, my head seemed to be partially numb!
I've had this same odd cranial feeling before... way back at the beginning of my illness before they knew what was wrong with me and before I was on any medications, this odd feeling was fairly common. It sort of resembled a fairly typical multiple sclerosis symptom. Since starting on a very aggressive regimen of medications, I haven't experienced this symptom more than very rarely so this feeling today was odd and a bit disconcerting.
While I was making a simple dinner of frozen chicken breasts and frozen french fries in the oven (it was all I could manage tonight), I decided that perhaps I should take some extra medications. I threw some extra H1 blockers at my problem hoping that would resolve my problem. About a half hour later, my health was still spiraling downward so I took one of my more mild emergency medications.
We ate dinner... I drank some more water than usual in case I was a bit dehydrated... my health was still spiraling downward though. At some point this evening, my breathing started getting worse and I was still feeling this odd cranial numbness. I just didn't feel "right"... I was slightly lightheaded too. Now, I knew I needed stronger emergency medications. It was time for epinephrine... I epi'd twice...
Fortunately, within a few minutes, I was feeling more stable and more like myself. In a short while, I'll throw some additional emergency medications at this problem. These emergency medications always make me very drowsy so I'll probably sleep most of the day tomorrow but I should feel stable.
We'll see what tonight brings...
