LCD Screen Protector for Newest Camera

Today, my new LCD protectors arrived in the mail so I put aside some time to install one on my newest camera body.

Back about a month or two ago, I stumbled upon a great sale on a Sony camera body that I have had my eye on for a couple of years.  In short, I picked up this camera at about one-third of its retail price.  This is, by far, the most professional camera body I've ever used so I definitely want to protect it as best as possible.

Admittedly, I'm a bit rough on LCD screens.  I've had to replace quite a few over the years.  Grease from noses and fingers are not good for these fragile screens.  Worse yet, sunscreen can damage an LCD screen very quickly and render it useless.  The oils from the face and fingers and especially sunscreen tend to delaminate LCD screens.  For this reason alone, I am now reluctant to use any sunscreen for fear of damaging another camera and I'm always carrying a camera when we are outside.

The other problem is that when I slide my camera in and out of my camera bag, that LCD screen can get scratched very easily.  All LCD screens should be able to flip around to face the camera for storage so the screen would be protected.  Some of my Panasonic cameras do this but my Sony cameras do not.  The only thing I can do is install a screen protector on it.

Another issue is that when I have the camera dangling hanging over my shoulder on a cross-body sling, the back LCD screen can easily rub across zippered pockets on sweatshirts, belt buckles, and anything else on my clothing.  This is not good for the LCD screen and always causes at least a little bit of damage.

In an attempt to prolong the life of the LCD on my best camera, I ordered some tempered glass screen protectors made specifically for my camera model.  On the positive side, I needed only about ten minutes to install this tempered glass screen protector.

Below is a reflection in this shiny, smooth, new LCD screen...  we'll see how long that nice reflection lasts!

It has been a productive day, for a change.  I have a pot roast slow cooking in the oven and we have Florida basketball game to watch tonight.  I'm looking forward to a quiet evening after a productive day.
