Productive Day Regardless of Miserable Health

I don't know if I've mentioned it here in this blog, if so, I'll be repeating myself a bit.  Sheila and I had COVID again.  We both tested negative but at this point we're absolutely certain we've had COVID yet again.  I was at the doctor yesterday and they agree that we've had COVID again.

When I got up out of bed yesterday, I was exhausted because I couldn't sleep the previous night due to significant pain.  The entire left side of my head was in unbearable pain.  The pain was radiating from my left ear and affected the entire left hemisphere of my head.

I was so dizzy that it was making me extremely nauseated.  I took some Meclizine for the dizziness and some of my usual anti-nausea medication.  Then I took about 1000mg of Tylenol.  I was already loaded up on Aleve but that didn't seem to be touching this pain.  After calling the doctor to make an appointment, I even used a warm compress on my ear.  The combination of everything made me feel well enough for a trip to the doctor although that was rough due to my dizziness.  Even though Sheila drove, it still was a rough drive for me.

This started a few weeks ago with COVID.  I had the "razor blade" sore throat on only the left side of my throat.  Before long, ear pain started but it was tolerable in the beginning.  I also had an irritated and bloodshot left eye with a puss discharge. Most of this resolved on its own over the course of a couple of weeks but my "razor blade" sore throat and the ear pain remained.  By yesterday morning, the pain had reached unbearable levels so I had to call the doctor.  I needed relief.

It turns out that I developed an ear infection due to COVID.  The last time I had COVID I developed a sinus infection.  I've been getting quite a few infections in recent years.  I don't know if that is due to COVID or my mast cell disease or simply age or a combination of all three but this is getting old (and painful).

Now I'm on an antibiotic for the next week and the pain still is bothersome but is definitely down into the tolerable level already.

Since my ear infection was now at a tolerable level, I headed outside this morning to do some work on the garden railroad.  Everything I built today still needs to be painted but it was a very productive day!

This first photo shows a coal storage silo in the design I remember from my childhood.  These storage facilities were originally built about 80-100 years ago and very few remain today as only delapidated relics.

Below is the coal storage silos behind the new train station...

Below is a closer photo showing the siding behind the train station platform that leads over to the old coal storage silos...

Below is a photo of the train station.  The gray part in front of the doors still needs to be glued in place over this door...

Once these two structures are painted and roofing added, they will look far better but they're looking great already!
