A Quiet Birthday at Home

We had a small, quiet birthday celebration at home yesterday. Although small and quiet, I am still exhausted today and in need of a long nap. I think I am still recovering from our time at the lake house as well as being in need of some recovery time after overdoing it a week ago.

My birthday started with a very nicely written note and card from Sheila... then a nice letter from a friend at the lake informing us that two loon chicks were born that morning. The chicks were named Janice and Janet. I had been concerned about the seemingly low numbers of loons at the lake thus far so it was nice to hear we have two new young additions to the loon population at the lake... coincidentally born on my own birthdate. This was actually a nice birthday surprise.

The grandchildren were with us for dinner and cake. They had some fun with the O gauge trains on the living room floor for most of the evening. We set up a diagonal oval of track across the living room floor that went around and then under the coffee table. I shot a few photos of them with the trains and even got some video (the video will have to wait... I don't have the energy today to cut and splice the interesting parts).

We started with some homemade salsa (mine) and tostada chips... then some Italian meatballs, pasta, tomato sauce and salad... then a Chocolate Truffle cake. It rained all night long, pouring hard at times, so we stayed indoors this year. No barbeque nor sitting around a fire all evening this year!

Sheila's parents stopped by for a little bit to wish me a Happy Birthday as well. By the time the kids headed back toward home I was more than ready for bed. I could hardly keep my eyes open I was so exhausted!

It was a really nice, quiet birthday!

Funny story... For almost a year, I've been thinking I was 53 years old... It wasn't until we were getting ready for cake that I did the math and realized that I am now just 53 years old! So, I guess I am still 53 years old!

Okay... my stomach is telling me it is time for some leftover meatballs...
