Christmas on Church Street 2016

Our schedule is pretty full between Thanksgiving weekend and the end of January this holiday season. We had planned to head to Church Street in Burlington yesterday for our annual Christmas celebration in Burlington but I wasn't feeling my best in the morning so we cancelled... then I fell asleep for a few hours... I took some extra medications... showered... and I was feeling a bit better so we decided to head up that way much later than we usually do.

We got there in time for a very late mid-afternoon lunch at Vermont Pub & Brewery. Lunch was delicious... the beer was delicious (geez... how I wish all micro-brews were as good as their's)... so Sheila and I had a nice time.

Vermont Pub & Brewery is quite behind schedule with their Christmas decorating. They were decorating while we were there which gave us something to watch and laugh about occasionally! Maybe they'll have finished decorating this tree this afternoon.

As darkness fell upon Burlington, we ventured back outdoors to capture some photos of Church Street decorated for Christmas with all their Christmas lights. It was frigid... freezing temps... and there was a very stiff north-northwestern wind but we've experienced colder in previous years. We definitely had a colder day of barhopping one Christmas three or four years ago with Frank and Christine... the wind chill that night must have been -40 degrees! Last night's wind chill was probably a balmy 10 degrees or so.

When the wind got to us, we headed into the mall on Church Street to do some shopping. Sheila found some nice gloves at LL Bean and then we ventured back out into the cold on Church Street and Sheila purchased some kettle corn.

It was a quiet celebration this year since it was just the two of us but we had a nice afternoon together, as always!
It was snowing at our house when we headed toward Burlington but, as we dropped in elevation as
we approached Burlington, the snow turned to rain and then Burlington was mostly dry.

As I was shooting Santa from far above him, he looked up and waved at the perfect
time... I turned to Sheila and said, "See... Santa knows me! I must have been good this year!"
