Revisiting A Few Excursions

I've been laid up for the past two weeks. Actually, the past few months have been pretty lousy but the past two weeks have been significantly more limiting. I've needed a cane to get around and I've needed to be off my feet unless absolutely necessary. I have a medical appointment early next week so, until then, there has been a bit of a shift in my activities.

I've watched a lot of movies over the past two weeks... done some reading... I did a lot of research online... I wrote some additional to-do lists (like my current to-do lists weren't long enough)... and I fiddled around with my photography gear with time at the lake in mind. I even spent some time at the piano everyday which, I must admit, is a rarity.

Since most of the past two weeks have been spent on the couch, I've had a chance to scroll through thousands of my old photos. Tonight, I'm sharing a few photos from 2009 and 2010.

Back during this period, I was shooting photos with a Fujifilm enthusiast-level camera. In some ways, I miss the old Fuji. In many other ways, I wouldn't trade my current Sony cameras for anything but better Sony cameras. That being said, there is something about these early digital photos that always impresses me. When the light was right, that old CCD sensor in my Fuji captured some rich photos.

Anyway, on Labor Day weekend in 2009, my health was feeling well enough to hike to the summit of Mt Philo. We chose late in the day for this excursion because the overlook faces west toward the Adirondack Mountains in northern New York. I knew it would be the perfect place for some sunset photos.

I captured quite a few beautiful photos on that little excursion. Plus, the rugged Adirondack Mountains hold a special place in my heart and soul so it is always nice to look toward the west from the shores of Lake Champlain. Hiking back down the mountain after sunset was a bit of a challenge but it was worth the trip.

The third photo is from 2010 on the shore of Shelburne Bay. We had spent a little time scouting out boat launch ramps and beaches and this was one of our stops that day. After our time there, we ventured to Burlington to capture some really nice sunset photos. I'll share a few of those Burlington sunset photos another time.

In the meantime, here are the photos...

Although we climbed Mt Philo in 2009 and the Shelburne Bay photo is from 2010, I believe Adam was 13 years old at the time for all of these photos.
