An Attempt At New Living Room Furniture

About a year ago, Sheila and I were out browsing in a store in Burlington and came across a small sectional couch that would be great in our small home. It was on sale but the price was still a bit more than we could handle at that moment so we passed on that couch. After seeing that little sectional couch, however, our slightly larger sectional couch was looking a bit worn and out of style so we've been keeping our eyes open for other options.

About a month ago, we were again in that same store in Burlington just browsing around and we found a very comfortable couch and armchair. The armchair was smaller than most so we thought that maybe it would fit in our living room. The couch was just a straight sofa-bed couch so we figured that would fit as well. Both were very comfortable and we had a large selection of fabrics to choose from so we were pretty excited.

We were told that these pieces would be on sale within the next two weeks so we excitedly started looking for fabrics that would fit our plan for our living room.

About an hour later, we thought we had chosen the right fabrics and we were almost 100% certain that we would be buying this couch, the comfy arm chair and an ottoman. After arriving back home, we started re-thinking our choice in fabrics... the two fabrics we chose were not as closely matched as we had thought so the pieces didn't seem to belong together.

The following day we went back to the store and spent even more time browsing through all the fabric samples. We thought we came up with a new good plan and left it at that and headed home.

A day or two later, the thought occurred to me that perhaps I should sketch out a scale drawing of our living room and try to fit this new furniture into what little room we have...

The only way we could make this new combo fit was to eliminate our piano and, even then, it would be a cramped and odd fit.

Eventually, I plan to move the piano to its own room just off the living room but the house is not prepared for that move yet. We're still playing that little game of moving things from one room to an empty room as we renovate each room so we are short on rooms.

For now, we'll need to stick with the furniture we currently have in our living room. On the positive side, Sheila and I are having no problems finding things we both like. The problem we are having is that the living room is a bit too small.
