Cruise Day with the Grandkids
As I sit here waiting for some severe weather to hit us... heavy rain, hail, high winds, possible tornadoes... I figured I would share some photos from yesterday.
Yesterday we brought the grandkids up to Burlington for our annual cruise on Lake Champlain. As always, Will and Sue joined us for the day. Lukey and Kenzie spent the previous night at Gee and Papa's house. Gee and I were awoken by 5:30am to giggles and laughter right outside our bedroom door so our day began a bit earlier than we had intended.
The weather was beautiful... temperatures in the 80s and mostly clear... so we couldn't ask for better weather! Since we were out of bed far earlier than intended and the weather was so nice, we made our way to Burlington a bit earlier than necessary. This gave us a little time to walk around...
Kenzie insisted upon bringing Margaret (her baby doll) with her for this cruise...
The kids liked these plants... the giant plants made them feel a bit smaller than they already are...
At the boathouse...
Kenzie wasn't too comfortable with the idea of wandering out on the dock at the boathouse but Gee managed to get her out there...
We're finally on the Spirit of Ethan Allen waiting (some little ones impatiently waiting) to feel the rumble of the engines and bow thrusters as we pull away from our slip. I'm not sure if this was an odd face directed toward the photographer or if he is just squinting or if he smelled something unappealing...
Gee ordered a nice, cold, tall Piña Colada (two of them, actually)...
Nan ordered a frozen Strawberry Daiquiri...
I surprised Kenzie by ordering her a virgin Strawberry Daiquiri. Kenzie is our resident strawberry fanatic...
We also ordered a few tasty platter assortments to pick at while we cruised along... guess who claimed the strawberry...
Gee is sending a teaser photo to work...
Kenzie is waving at the cliff divers diving at Red Rocks...
It is difficult to see in this tiny online photo but one of the divers is halfway to the water in this next photo... he is located at approximately mid-frame below the guy standing on the cliff...
Lukey wanted to shoot a few photos and caught me by surprise...
Gee appears to be enjoying her day of leave from work...
Lukey brought a pair of binoculars with him...
Back on land and beginning our hot and always surprisingly exhausting uphill journey toward Church Street...
We stopped for lunch at Vermont Pub & Brewery... very good beer and even better food!
My Ruben was delicious...
The mozzarella sticks are worth mentioning... they were cooked to perfection... thick batter and still crispy rather than soggy, limp or falling apart... I could go for a few right now!
While on Church Street, we stopped for some ice cream...
It was a really nice day! It was exhausting but it was a really nice day. We were all wiped out by the time we arrived back home in Waterbury.
