First Day with Lukey and Kenzie

Lukey and Kenzie arrived yesterday to stay with us for a couple of weeks.  It was a nice first day with them and they were greeted with a nice surprise when they arrived...  waiting in the yard were two new bicycles!  They had outgrown their old bicycles so Gee and Papa purchased two size-appropriate bicycles.  Needless to say, they were pretty excited so this was their first activity of the day.  Actually, they did a lot of riding...

Kenzie arrived at the house wearing sandals but she changed into sneakers immediately so she could ride her new bike...

While I was waiting for Lukey and Kenzie to make a lap past our house, I decided to shoot a photo of the house...

I think Lukey was a bit torn between riding his new bike and playing golf.  After some initial bike riding, Lukey and I spent a lot of time pitching with a wedge onto the green and then putting on the green.  Lukey even got a hole-in-one once!

After a short while, I realized that we needed to do some groundskeeping so I pulled out both mowers and a rake so we could clean-up the putting green.  I still have to remove some small ridges around the putting green but I'll do that after our time with Lukey and Kenzie.  Leveling out those ridges will produce bare dirt again in those areas surrounding the green so I'll need another two to three weeks for grass to grow and mature.  That small project can wait until Lukey and Kenzie have gone back home...

By mid-afternoon, we had started a fire so that the fire would be ready for S'mores after dinner...

Just as we started on S'mores, some raindrops began to fall from the sky.  We managed to make a few S'more before the rain got too heavy and we had to retreat back to inside the house.

We should be getting a brief rain shower in the next hour or so but the rest of the day should be nice.  We'll have to find something to do inside for a short while...
