Painting of Cincinnati
Late at night over the past month or two, on those nights when I've felt up for it, I've been working on a painting of Cincinnati.
We're booked for a trip to Cincinnati and Dayton, via Manhattan and Washington DC, in June with Lukey and Kenzie in tow. In preparation of this trip, I've pulled out some of my photos from past visits so I can show the kids.
We're all pretty excited about this trip but, considering what is happening with the Federal government now, I'm not too sure we'll be able to go on this trip.
So much is being carelessly cut that I worry about funding being cut to Amtrak. I'm worried about Amtrak long distance routes being eliminated (as has been threatened). I'm very concerned that my disability pay will be cut, interrupted or completely taken away. I'm worried that my retirement pay will be eliminated, temporarily or even permanently. And, of course, if there is a significant uptick in civil unrest in any of the cities we'll be visiting then, in the interest of safety, that will also force us to make a decision about continuing on with this trip.
Consequently, I'm feeling very anxious each and every day about whether my already criminal and ridiculously low disability income will be stripped from me even though it is an insurance that I paid into my entire life. Naturally, if any of these possibilities happen, my thoughts are that the chances of this trip occurring are in the 10-20% range which is pretty close to slim.
Regardless, I have been revisiting my old photos.
So, before our bloated, ghoulish, ignorant, buffoon of a president began slashing everything related to Federal employment (which was my entire honorable career side-by-side with far better people and far harder workers than I've ever seen in the corporate/civilian world), I had started sketching and painting from a photo I shot of Cincinnati in much better and far more civil times.
For now, it is a completed painting although, honestly, I'm never completely satisfied with any of my art which often leaves me wanting to start over...
With each passing day, the chances of this trip occurring in June continue to diminish and it is already quite unlikely that this trip will occur. And this is due to all the ignorant, uneducated, naive, moronic citizens of this country who elected this buffoon of a president and the rest of his ignorant group of lemming senators and representatives who are devoid of even the least bit of integrity.
