Poor Health After Roof Repair

As I wrote yesterday, I had done a relatively small roof repair on our neighbor's roof yesterday to repair damage done by part of our spruce tree falling on it.  I do some light physical therapy everyday for my spinal injuries but this was the first time in months that I did anything physically strenuous.

Just finding the strength to get up and down the ladder was grueling by the time I did it about a half a dozen times.  Doing anything on a roof does no good to anyone's knees and ankles and I already have significant problems with my knees (always have) and working on the roof did not help at all.

I just remembered something else...  I had roof cement all over my hands and needed to use paint thinner to remove most of it.  Using any solvents on my hands always results in my health crashing.  I don't know if it is due to what is absorbed into my tissue or if it is the fumes but I know that my health crashes after cleaning up my hands with any solvents.  To counter this, I pre-medicate before any problems arise.

Strenuous physical activity is another trigger for me so it comes as no surprise that yesterday's activity was going to cause some health issues.  By the tenth or twelfth time I went up and down the ladder, I was having difficulty finding the strength to get from one rung to the next.  At this point, I knew that any plans I had for nighttime activities wasn't going to happen.

Although it is rare for me, I did actually have plans for nighttime activities last night.  We had a total lunar eclipse last night beginning at 11:57pm and lasting until around 5:00am.  I had been planning to photograph this eclipse for the past month but, after the roof repair, I knew that I would not be dragging out astronomy equipment for anything even though I had everything set up and ready to go in our living room.  The chances of our skies being cooperative were slim to none anyway.

I will say that I got up around 11pm to use the bathroom and the moon was visible...  it was shrouded in light haze but it was visible.  By midnight, however, it could have easily been mostly obscured knowing our weather here between three mountain ski resorts.  So, I might not have missed anything.  The "total eclipse" part of the eclipse wasn't until around 2am and we rarely have clear skies at that time.  As the snow is melting this time of year, the natural climate cycle of evaporation always causes dense fog.

One of today's activities will be putting all the astronomy gear back into cases and storage.  At the moment, that stuff is cluttering up the living room.

Yesterday evening we had to do our weekly food run to Shaw's.  By the time we meandered through about two-thirds of the store, I knew my health was crashing.  I needed to use the shopping cart to help keep me upright the entire time we were walking through the store.  When Sheila headed for the cashier, standing around wasn't going to be pleasant and bagging was not something I could do at that point so I slowly headed outside to the car.  By the time I got to the car, I was feeling quite lousy.  I was definitely feeling as though and exhibiting signs that I was getting close to anaphylaxis so when I got to the car, I took some extra medications to help stabilize my body.

Getting some food in my stomach when we arrive home helped my health a little bit.  Extra medications helped a little bit too.  Then I just needed a good night's sleep!  This morning I'm sore and fatigued but my health and body is feeling stable so that is good.
