Our Walk Back to Ohio

After our visit to the Newport Aquarium, we started our walk back to Ohio.  For our route back to Cincinnati, we chose to walk a slightly different route across a different bridge.  This time we chose the Taylor Southgate Bridge across the Ohio River.

Below, we have a view of the aquarium from the bridge.  The aquarium is the large blue building all across the entire center of the frame...

Now we are looking northeast toward the Purple People Bridge...

Kenzie amused herself (and us) by having one foot in Ohio and the other in Kentucky at the state boundary line on the bridge...

As we approached the Cincinnati Reds' stadium, the ball game was in progress so we could clearly hear the announcer on the PA commenting on the game.  I think this area in front of us was the General Admission gates.  We actually could have paid and entered at this time if we felt inclined.  The thought did cross my mind but, at this point, it had already been a rather long and busy day so I felt we were all looking forward to getting back to our hotel and visiting the restaurant.

Once we got beyond the baseball stadium, we were back into the downtown area of Cincinnati...

After cleaning up a bit in our room, we went back downstairs to the hotel restaurant for dinner.  This restaurant was consistently outstanding.  The food was exceptional and the service was startlingly outstanding.  Whenever we entered the restaurant, this one server always had us seated in her area so she could serve us.  She seemed to enjoy interacting with Lukey and Kenzie.  And, it wasn't until after our last meal there (which I think was this meal) that she found out that Sheila and I are actually Lukey and Kenzie's grandparents.  All this time she thought they were our children, not grandchildren.  This actually happened a lot through this entire Amtrak journey so I guess that was a compliment to Sheila and me...  perhaps we look pretty good for our old age!

Let's see if I can remember what these meals were....   I think we have fish and chips with a side of cole slaw for this first dish (Sheila's meal)...  all homemade, fresh and outstanding...

Kenzie had a special request...  she asked for a grilled chicken Caesar salad which was not on the menu.  They didn't even hesitate to accommodate Kenzie...

Lukey had a burger and fries...

I had my usual staple of steak and fries.  This particular dish was a sliced steak done medium and it was done perfectly (which is hard to tell in this photo which is why I mention it now)...  And now, as I type this, I am dying for any one of these dishes now!

Our visit to Cincinnati was great but definitely too short.  There were other places to see that we missed and we could have easily spent another day or two at the zoo.  I guess we'll just have to head back that way again sometime soon!
