One More Week
In just another seven days, we'll have a house full of people including excited grandchildren bursting with energy to open Christmas gifts.
There is no more room left under the Christmas tree for more presents. We even have presents stacked up against an armchair and the piano. We only have a few more presents to wrap but those presents still have not yet arrived here at the house. We had a couple of late additions to our Christmas present list. Most of these gifts were purchased in early November! I think the last present will be delivered to us on Friday, the day before our Christmas party. That is cutting it too close for comfort!
I've already decided on what we will be eating for dinner on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and on Saturday for the party but we still need to compile a shopping list of food and to go grocery shopping. We'll do that sometime early in the week. If all goes well, we won't need to go back to the grocery store until after the party but, unfortunately, we always forget something that must be picked up so we always end up back at the grocery store.
The living room is looking like Christmas though!
Correction: I wrote the above this morning and now it is lunchtime. In an attempt to clear out some clutter in our laundry room hallway, I was about to start cutting up boxes we have been saving for wrapping gifts but Sheila informed me that she still has a lot of things to wrap so she needs some of those boxes. It sounds like we are definitely not done wrapping gifts!

UPDATE: December 29, 2025 - We had to cancel our Christmas celebration with the kids and grandkids. I'm still struggling with health problems but, worse yet, Sheila picked up COVID at a work Christmas party. There are a few people from that party who have tested positive for COVID since the party and Sheila has been sick since a few days after this party.
Ironically, Sheila's symptoms have been the same as what I have been experiencing since earlier in December. These particular symptoms are a bit odd for a cold or the flu so we're both certain that I had/have COVID too even though my test was negative. I'm still struggling with overwhelming fatigue. I'm sleeping almost all day, every day. When I'm not sleeping, I'm either eating a meal or in the bathroom feeling pretty miserable.
Anyway, we cancelled our family Christmas party. We'll try to schedule this for later in January when, hopefully, we're both safe to be around and feeling well enough to have a house full of kids.
