New Flooring and Toilet Installed

I somehow managed to have a couple of productive days... yesterday and today... which allowed me to install the new temporary flooring in our master bathroom and our new toilet!

We've been without our master bathroom since mid-January so it was nice to finally feel well enough to be productive and get it up and running again.

We had a problem with our toilet way back in January. The toilet was falling through a rotting floor. We have bigger plans for this bathroom but, at this point, we're not ready to completely renovate this room so it needed a relatively easy and quick fix. A toilet falling through a collapsing floor moved this project ahead of all of our other projects. Emergencies like this really screw up a schedule!

Being forced into this repair project meant making another 'clean spot' with some temporary upgrades and repairs.

I re-framed the floor... re-framed toilet support... added reinforced subflooring... painted the wall behind the toilet while the toilet was removed... installed some temporary wood flooring which involved removing all trim and the bathroom door... ripped some new baseboard trim... stained the poly'd the baseboard trim... and installed the new ADA toilet... finally!

I plan to build a new vanity sometime down the road (unfortunately, there are many projects on my to-do list ahead of this project)... I really need to rip out the old ceiling and install new drywall and a new wood ceiling... install a new exhaust fan... new lighting... refinish the tub and shower... then once again replace the flooring with a permanent floor... and I'm sure there will be other problems which will need to be addressed once I start on this bigger master bathroom project.

Finishing up this project took its toll on my spinal injuries but at least I was able to accomplish this in the end. In the meantime, we have another new 'clean spot' in the house! And, not a moment too soon!

Tomorrow, our new washing machine will be installed (hopefully) after waiting three or four weeks! This is yet another project we're looking forward to getting accomplished... we have a lot of dirty laundry in the house now!
