An Afternoon in Burlington

Image
W hile Lukey and Kenzie were visiting with us, we headed up to Burlington for an afternoon on the waterfront in the sun.  Our plan was to walk the waterfront from the Boathouse all the way up to North Beach and then back again.  It was a really beautiful day for this sort of walk but, unfortunately, my health was rather poor this particular day and by the time we reached the short distance to the Coast Guard Station, we had to turn around and find something else to do.  I was weak and generally feeling quite lousy.  We decided to head up to Church Street to have lunch instead. On the beginning of our walk, we walked up to Battery Park.  There is a long straight path to Battery Park that is lined with trees forming a nice canopy over the walkway.  When I first decided to start doing some infrared photography, I had this particular location in mind for a photo.  I wanted to see this tree-lined walkway and canopy in high contrast and with bright white leaves on the trees.  I like how thes

Lukey and Kenzie at ECHO

When we spent the day at Echo science and nature museum earlier in the week with little Miss Ellie, I naturally was reminded of our last visit to this museum.  Back in the summer of 2021, we brought Lukey and Kenzie there.  I don't think I ever shared any photos from that day so I guess sharing them late is better than not sharing them at all so here are a few from that day in 2021. If I remember correctly, we brought Lukey and Kenzie up to the Burlington waterfront two or three days in a row that summer.   The kids were able to do a local newscast in front of a green screen.  They had a few choices of backgrounds for this newscast.  We were able to email the videos they created to ourselves but the video quality was exceptionally poor.  If I remember correctly, the sound quality was so poor that it was mostly just noise.  The kids had fun creating their own news reports though... The day before we went to this museum with Lukey and Kenzie, we went on a cruise on the Spirit of Etha

International Antique and Classic Boat Show

L ukey and Kenzie accompanied us to the International Antique and Classic Boat Show on Lake Champlain in Burlington last weekend.  The weather was great although maybe a bit too hot for a September afternoon.  We walked quite a few miles as we drooled over many antique boats.   After perusing all the beautiful boats all along the waterfront, we brought the grandkids out to dinner for their first barbeque meal at a restaurant that specializes in barbeque.  Barbeque is hard to find up here in Vermont so our choice of restaurants was limited.  Sheila and I had been here once before so we knew what dishes to avoid at this particular restaurant.  We chose to order a bunch of different dishes and share them family-style.  Overall, it was a great meal and we left completely full! We then made our way back home to sit around a warm fire in the backyard and have some S'mores for dessert.  It was a long, busy but very good day! Here are a few of the many photos from our day...
