Flowers Finally Blooming

We had a very late start to summer this year due to some snowfall in April and May. I couldn't plant anything until very late in May because the ground was still frozen. We even had some piles of snow and chunks of ice leftover through Memorial Day weekend which still needed to thaw. Needless to say, we by-passed spring altogether and summer has been late.

This morning, while I was staining our front deck (a continuation of yesterday morning's little staining project... and a project which will continue into tomorrow morning), I noticed that we are finally beginning to get some flowers in our wildflower gardens around the house. We have three good-sized wildflower gardens and, oddly enough, the garden which is doing best this year is a garden which hardly had any growth in previous years. Maybe our other two gardens are a bit tired and need a year of rest.

After cleaning up from my staining project, I decided to grab one of my cameras to attempt to capture a few shots... but, which camera?

I decided on my oldest camera which seems to have a mind of its own. This camera changes settings on a whim without letting me know. It is very difficult trying to shoot photos when the settings are randomly changing all the time! As a result, I must check all the settings before each and every shot. That gets tedious and tiring very quickly.

So, why did I choose this particular camera? This camera has a beautiful Kodak sensor which captures amazing tone and beautiful colors. I figured I only plan on shooting a few photos so I will deal with the camera randomly changing my settings. I think I made the right choice.

Typically, by this time of year, we would have gardens full of blooms. Not only that, but these blooms would be tall. Our blooms are still a bit short and the blooms are just beginning to open. I think we should have a lot of colorful flowers in the coming weeks.

If the weather cooperates... and my health cooperates... I'm sure I'll get out there with my camera again when we have gardens full of color.

Let's hope that autumn does not start early this year! An early autumn could be a quick end to this summer's late flower blooms!
