Ice Cream Sandwiches
Helping Gee with the dishes after dinner... |
I haven't posted much about the grandchildren lately so I thought I would write a bit about the kids tonight.
Lukey is still infatuated with trains and is always hoping I have set up my big Lionel trains in the living room so he can play the Engineer again. Unfortunately, for both myself and Lukey, we don't have much room in the house for these trains to be set up all that often so we only do that on rare occasions. Lukey does, however, have his Thomas the Train trains and train table to play with whenever he visits as well as many other toys.
Lukey is getting better at expressing himself so it is only a matter of time before he starts voicing his desire to set up the tracks for the Lionel trains. On the positive side, the seasons are changing to outdoor weather so we will be spending more time outdoors which means less time with access to trains. Perhaps I can avoid disappointing him with "sorry, we can't set up the trains tonight" until the weather turns cold and snowy again.
Kenzie is a bit further along with her vocabulary and use of language but is now starting to get stuck on the typical three year old phrase of "why?".
Little Miss Mackenzie enjoys her baby dolls... figurines of princesses and animals... her castle... and even enjoys playing with the big foam blocks. Funny thing... before the kids arrive, I usually pull out the toys so everything is waiting for them. I had the foam blocks set up as a few big buildings when the kids arrived at the house... Lukey didn't want to touch the buildings for fear of messing them up. When I mentioned it was okay to knock down the buildings so they could use the blocks to build something for themselves, Kenzie quickly toppled everything while Lukey almost cried in horror at the destruction!
Both kids enjoy paging through books, reading and looking at illustrations. They both also enjoy scrolling through our family video clips every time they visit... particularly video of themselves!
Currently, it seems that Disney's "Choo Choo Soul" and DreamWorks Animation's "The Croods" are their favorite things to watch after Lukey's favorite model railroading video and videos of themselves are out of the way. Sometimes we go back to the ole standby, "Finding Nemo".
As always, we had a nice dinner with the kids and then had some dessert. Dessert this particular night was ice cream sandwiches. As you can see in the photos, these kids are almost always in good spirits and giggling... that makes shooting photos that much easier!
