A Fun Filled Day with the Kids

Lukey, milking Giselle the Cow
Today was an action-packed, fun-filled day with Lukey and Kenzie! And, Nan and Pop joined us as well.

We started out the morning by heading up to Shelburne Farms. After parking the car and paying our admission, we took a wagon ride to the old barn...

The kids got to play with sheep, goats, a couple of baby calves, and then learned how to lend a hand at milking the mother cow. We then headed to the learning play area, followed by spending some time in the chicken coop with some very animated and noisy, clucking and cock-a-doodling chickens and roosters.

Lukey got to spend some time on an antique tractor and then we made our way outdoors again to see some bunnies, more chickens, more cows, some horses... then some surprisingly HUUUGGGGEEE pigs... then some donkeys (Shrek was nowhere to be found though).

Shelburne Farms... the barn and farmyard in the majestic
building in the background.
The kids learned a bit about making cheese and then we tasted some cheese. We ended our time at the farm by visiting the farm bakery and bought some triple chocolate chunk and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.

Rather than riding the wagon back to the car, we decided to walk all the way back to the car for some exercise.

After departing the farm, we went to 'The Olive Garden' for lunch... some coloring... some stickers... some salad, spaghetti, meatballs, breadsticks... then we backtracked a little bit and made our way to a surprise visit to 'The Christmas Loft'.

The Olive Garden
At 'The Christmas Loft', we walked around the little village decorated in Christmas decorations and snow... twinkling in lights... the sounds of Christmas... then we visited every theme room of Christmas trees and decorations. Lukey chose a locomotive ornament to buy while Kenzie chose a small "Frozen" metal purse with a beaded handle which really could pull double-duty as a lunchbox too.

When we finally got back in the car, the kids were asleep, limp as ragdolls and snoring like little pugs within a few short minutes!

It was definitely a memorable and fun-filled day with the kids today! I will add more photos and some video soon... Even Lukey carried around a camera for a little while and shot some photos! I'll write about Lukey the Photographer soon as well...

It was a really nice day!
