A Few Photos From Sunday With The Kids

One of them was chanting "SAILING!" and then the other
screamed "KAYAKING!" alternating back and forth

between the two types of boating...

My health is feeling a bit more stable this morning so now I'll get to writing about our Sunday with the grandchildren. I have a few photos to add here as well (nothing great... just snapshots only a relative would love)

When the kids were here the previous weekend, we told them we would dig the life preservers out of the shed so they could try them on before we head to the lake house. They're excited about heading back to the lake and they know that these life preservers are required if they want to kayak, sail, be on the dock or be in the water so they were excited to hear it is this time of year again.

If these life preservers are too small, we need to purchase the correct size soon so it was time to dig out them out of storage so the kids could do a quick fitting.

The funny thing is... Last year, Kenzie wouldn't allow us anywhere near her with the life preserver. It wasn't until she arrived at the lake and found out that she needed to wear the life preserver if she wanted to be near the water that she became more cooperative. She was excited to try on this vest the other day though! She even mentioned that she wants to go sailing this summer! (She has yet to find the courage whenever I ask if she wants to get in the sailboat with me... we'll see what happens this summer.)

Both life preservers fit them so we are good for another year before we need to purchase larger vests.

Later in the day, I was trying to find something interesting to watch on television and I settled on an NCAA track and field event... Lukey was excited and captivated instantly. He closely watched every race, mimicking all the positions he saw on television.

While Gee washed the dishes from our pot roast dinner, Lukey, Kenzie and Liza went outside to run. They ran six or eight sprints (approximately 50 yard sprints)... then they decided to take a lap around the block which is a 1/4 mile... Lukey ran the entire lap!

Liza carried Kenzie most of the way but, to be fair, Kenzie was wearing big bulky boots rather than sneakers so running was difficult.

An active interest in track and field is a very good thing...

Kenzie, light as a feather... like running on the moon...

Coming in to the finish line after the 1/4 mile lap.
