A Select Few of Cruise Photos

Image
W e went on a lunchtime cruise on Lake Champlain the other day with Lukey and Kenzie.  The lunch was good, the weather was beautiful, the cruise was nice and relaxing, and we had a great time! As always, I shot many photos but I suppose I should now say that we shot many photos.  Lukey and Kenzie may have shot as many photos as I did this time out.  They are shooting more and more photos as they get older and they captured a few great photos on this day.  Another plus with them shooting more and more photos with my cameras is that I end up with photos of myself too which never used to happen when I was the only one shooting photos! Until I find the time and energy to write more with more photos of our cruise, here are a select few of photos from our cruise the other day.  And, I should point out that all of these photos in this blog entry were shot by Lukey and Kenzie...

A Few Old, Scrapped Photos

My health took a nosedive more than a week ago... and then, more recently, took a deeper nosedive with terrible nausea, weakness and general malaise holding me back and keeping near the bathroom. I'm still recovering but, as always when I am recovering, I am now trying to find little things around the house that I can actually accomplish without triggering my health to crash yet again.  This time around, I decided to scroll through some old photos to see if could find anything worth salvaging. All three of these photos, below, were shot at Oakledge Park on Lake Champlain. These photos were shot back a number of years ago when I was shooting with a couple of cameras that did nothing but cause me grief. I always seemed to struggle to get decent shots and especially when the light was not ideal. Ironically, the light was terrible for all three of these photos below. I really had to search to find good, interesting light. This first photo was shot from a rocky beach looking towar

A Cruise on Lake Champlain

Image
We took a day off from all medical appointments, work, and home renovations one day this week so we could take the grandchildren out on a cruise on Lake Champlain. The weather was beautiful and the kids were exceptionally excited. Kenzie was like a string bean shaped Mexican jumping bean! She was jumping and skipping the entire half mile walk to the boathouse as she pulled Gee faster and faster.  We attempted to find a parking spot close to the boathouse but found none. We saw Will and Sue (Sheila's parents) in one of these parking lots near the boathouse and Lukey wanted to get out to be with them so we dropped him off near the boathouse. Sheila, Kenzie and I headed up the hill into downtown Burlington to park in our usual lot and then walked through Battery Park and then down to the waterfront and the boathouse. Kenzie was in her new sparkly flats and Gee was in her sandals but they managed to get down a rather rough path down a steep grade that dropped us down at the waterfr

Revisiting A Few Excursions

I've been laid up for the past two weeks. Actually, the past few months have been pretty lousy but the past two weeks have been significantly more limiting. I've needed a cane to get around and I've needed to be off my feet unless absolutely necessary. I have a medical appointment early next week so, until then, there has been a bit of a shift in my activities.   I've watched a lot of movies over the past two weeks... done some reading... I did a lot of research online... I wrote some additional to-do lists (like my current to-do lists weren't long enough)... and I fiddled around with my photography gear with time at the lake in mind. I even spent some time at the piano everyday which, I must admit, is a rarity.  Since most of the past two weeks have been spent on the couch, I've had a chance to scroll through thousands of my old photos. Tonight, I'm sharing a few photos from 2009 and 2010. Back during this period, I was shooting photos with a Fujifilm

A Scenic Cruise on Lake Champlain

Image
Every summer we try to get out on Lake Champlain at least once for a short cruise on The Spirit of Ethan Allen. The weather was forecast to be excellent this past Friday so we headed to Burlington with the grandkids in tow. They had never been on a larger boat so this was a first for them. However, the kids surprised us by not being too fond of the idea of a cruise at first. Yes... you read that right... the two kids who can't get enough of boats while they are at the lake house weren't too fond of the idea of a cruise! While they were eating breakfast on Friday morning, we asked them if they wanted to go on a cruise with us... they gave us some confused looks so I figured it was obvious they weren't too sure about the word "cruise"...  I then asked if they wanted to go out for a ride on a "boat"... oddly, they were enthusiastically negative about that idea too! What is odd about this is that neither one of them seem to get enough of rid
